Interesting TED presentation from R. Beau Lotto. If you can't see how it relates to poker, you are doing it wrong.
This capacity to be an observer of yourself is phenomenal and possibly unique to humans. Indeed, to literally "see yourself see" is in my view the principal act of consciousness, which has the power to transform one's view of the world and of oneself.
I was about ready to throw in the towel; it's been that kind of a week and month. But I decided to make a few adjustments to my game, and while I hate to be a superstitious pigeon, they seemed to have worked for now.
"The 1992 Wimbledon champion, the winner of eight grand-slam titles... says that he has always secretly hated playing tennis and lived in fear of his bad-tempered and violent father."
2 months 2 million wrapped up its season last night. I gotta say, them taking down less than $700,000 was underwhelming. Only Krantz came close to earning his share by pulling in 400K; Brian "Flawless Victory" Roberts made a mere $7,500. Heck, Dashornman probably takes that much down in two months playing 25 and 50NL. Maybe he should get a show... nah! Well, in the future eveyone will be famous for 15 minutes. ;-)
2m2mm has been good for the games, but I can't see it getting renewed. How many more interchangable episodes of poker/partying/poker/partying can they really crank out?
At least that's what blogger IrvineRenter over at the Irvine Housing Blog suggests, and that's coming from the most bearish real estate blog on the web.
No graph this week, because I can count the number of times I got it in ahead on the flop and held on one hand and there's no point in dwelling on this misfortune.
But this coming week, I'm getting and staying on the Road to Success if it kills me.
according to 'Tracker. On the plus side, I played 2K hands. Jeebus. Played 7 hours, so it was grind up a BI an hour, get it all in with the best hand, loose the BI, repeat, not that it was exactly a break-even endeavor.
Decent villains hitting three outers, four outers; total fish hitting runner runner quads. When it rains it pours.
Seriously, this hand with a reg who pwns me anyway was really WTFBBQ....
SB checks, UTG bets $0.75, Hero raises to $3.25, SB folds, UTG calls $2.50 which screams weak draw
Turn: ($9.75) 6(2 players)
UTG checks wanting a free card (a set always bets here for value on such a wet board, so I cross that off my list), Hero bets $5.50, UTG calls $5.50 apparently chasing
River: ($20.75) T(2 players)
UTG bets $16.75 (thinking he can convince me he has a T??), Hero calls $16.75
Final Pot: $54.25
UTG shows 9 8 (a pair of Tens)
Hero shows J Q (two pair, Jacks and Tens)
Hero wins $51.60
(Rake: $2.65) I've actually been thinking so much about lines not making sense that I purposely played a weird line tonight in a hand with a reg just because I knew it would trigger a bluff on the end....
MP checks, Hero bets $1 weird again right?, MP raises to $4, Hero calls $3
River: ($11.85) 8(2 players)
MP bets $7.90, Hero calls $7.90 (8 brought the draw in so I didn't feel I could raise Aces-up for value)
Final Pot: $27.65
MP shows 6 6 (a pair of Sixes)
Hero shows 9 A (two pair, Aces and Nines)
Hero wins $26.30
(Rake: $1.35) So, I dunno about these 25NL villains: sometimes it's almost too easy. Hopefully I can play more this upcoming week and get rolled soon for another 50NL shot.
