Viffer banned from 2+2

From 2+2 mod Pudge714:
viffers post has been deleted and we will discuss what to do about it. This isn't a permanent move. Reposting or offering to pm/email/etc the contents of the deleted post to other users will result in bans or infractions.
Oops, but then Viffer X-posted it (n.b.: although it appears to be in the first person, it's believed Viffer was relating 3rd party info) in another thread:
Apparently he re-posted something that he was asked not to post. The ban is only for 3 days so we will likely hear from him again.
Of course, given that this is Viffer we're talking about, the Mods quickly came to their senses and lifted the ban. According to moderator apefish:
It's very clear now that viffer posted it, it was taken down and he was told that it can't be an anonymous accusation (which it was), and he reposted it very quickly vouching for what he felt was its authenticity, resulting in the ban. At least part of that was a misunderstanding and his account was rather quickly reinstated after direct contact between Mason and viffer.
Ah well, the usual 2+2 shenanigans. Good luck Viffer. I guess it helps when you want to speak truth to power to have been on TV. At least I don't feel so alone any more ;-)

Update 3/18: Stoxtrader has now resigned from Stoxpoker.

  1. Exciting stuff! It's like a soap opera.

So, what did you get banned for?

  2. I basically got caught up in a shoving match with TheEngineer, who was only a psuedo-mod at the time, when he started removing all my posts from this thread after I caught him up in a ridiculous string of lies about a certain Senate bill. That's not even to mention some of the tall tales he told me via PM -- I believe at one point he insisted to me that he was merely a humble volunteer for the Poker Players Alliance, but a few months later Bart Hanson introduced him as board member of the organization on Deuce Plays (#49), LOL. Quite a remarkable move up the ranks!

Although that wasn't the straw that broke the camel's back -- I did back down once I was informed that, although he didn't have a "green name" at the time, he was nevertheless considered to be a real moderator -- but it was only a week or so before I caught a final couple of infraction points to put me over 100 and thus be banhammered for life.

But, I got the impression that they were just looking for any excuse to shut me up at that point. The powers that be at 2+2 have a huge monetary interest in any congressional bill which would legalize poker no matter how bad it would be for the games or for the players.

Compared to that of course, having StoxPoker as a sponsor/partner is mere peanuts, but this incident with Viffer just shows that they know where their bread is buttered. We rule you, we fool you....

  3. It's feeling like the 2p2 mods are starting to get a bit power mad (for instance the pfapfap saga), but maybe it's always been that way & I've just not noticed.

You know they banned Lego05 for a bit because his name was too similar to leggo poker and he refused to change it?

  4. LOL, poor guy, Lego.

I only saw a passing mention of the "Pfapfap saga" yesterday in one of these StoxPlayer threads -- obviously I don't spend too much time stuck in read-only mode on 2+2, except I have a blog to write and NVG is good place to find material. I remember him as a regular poster though.

The power corrupts theme is universal both on the Internet and beyond. The banhammer and its usage in particular piques my sociological interest.
